Historic Butcher Block – 50″ x 30″ x 15″ #503015 Brockton, NY
Nice large rectangular kitchen island! Used, several “valleys” where the butchers did their work. Massive block is 50″ x 30″ x 15″ thick. On SIX turned legs it sits 33″ high. (your counter top sits 36″ high). From Brockton, NY. Made by the Bally Block Company of Bally, PA, (had paper decal on it) which was purchased by Michigan Maple Block Company in 1929. Vertically dovetailed (superb craftsmanship) five threaded rods go through the block and hold block together. Sanded thrice and refinished naturally in dark brown Briwax. Hard Maple. Removable 18″ wide dowel legs are maple also. Almost 10 1/2 square feet of work prep space. Would make nice addition to kitchen as island. Click on picture for larger version and more detail.
